BEECROFT Rugby Club lead the Kentwell Cup competition with a dour home win over a committed Iggies Old Boys on Saturday.

Stricken by illness and injury, and with only three of their grand finals forwards on the park, the Crofties struggled for their 13-7 win but it was sufficient to hoist them to the top of the table after three rounds.

It was a red letter day for prop forward Jason Goodman, playing his 200th game with the club.

BEECROFT Rugby Club are the giant-killers of the Sydney Suburban Rugby Competition, ending the Drummoyne Dirty Reds’ domination of first grade.

Anticipation was high at the Crofties’ home patch, Headon Park, on Saturday, for the rematch of last season’s grand finalists.

Unbeaten since the middle of 2007 and Crofties’ nemesis in their last six encounters, the Dirty Reds were odds-on favourites……

HOW quickly teams adjust to the experimental law variations could decide whether they succeed or fail in the suburban competition this year, according to players and coaches.

With round two set for this weekend, many teams will be hoping to handle the new rules better than they did in round one.

Beecroft Rugby Club is proud to annouce that two of your own, Freddie and Koccy will again be running the ring at The Epping Hotel.

To commemorate this great day in Australia’s calendar, all Beecroft Rugby Club players (past and present), supporters, friends and family are asked to come to The Epping Hotel and support Legacy this Saturday from 12.30pm.

BEECROFT Rugby Club’s first home game for 2009, against Drummoyne this weekend, will be a replay of last year’s grand final.

It will also be a test to see if the Crofties can deflate the Drummoyne ego – the side has not been beaten since 2007.

Beecroft coach Steve Broughton-Rouse hopes his three representative players do not have any residual ill-effects from last week’s loss to the Country Cockatoos where, although downed 35-22, the local lads put in a sterling effort…..
