Beecroft Rugby Club is pleased to announce this weeks team selections for the round against Kings Old Boys

ROUND 12

The previous week’s bruising encounter between Beecroft and Drummoyne, played in atrociously wet conditions, appears to have been at a cost to both sides as they went down to Knox and Kings Old Boys respectively.

With no less than five of last week’s starting line-up unavailable, the selectors at Beecroft went for youth against third-positioned Knox, promoting three colts to the first grade forward pack.

ROUND 11 UPDATED

Heavy rain turned the Subbies top-of-the-table clash between Beecroft and Drummoyne at Taplin Oval into a mudbath on Saturday.

Crofties came off second-best in a match played in dreadful conditions, going down 20-3 to the competition leaders.

Halfback Ben Robinson slotted a penalty goal to open the scoring for the match, but his opportune three-pointer was the only scoring chance made good for the Lions.

Beecroft failed to cope with the weekend’s miserable conditions and went down 20-3 against Suburban Rugby Kentwell Cup competition-leaders Drummoyne.

With the games against Drummoyne moved to riverside Taplin Oval and played in constant heavy rain, it was never going to be conducive to free-flowing, running rugby.

But as so many games had been postponed already it had to be business as usual.

Beecroft struggled from the start, with Fifth Grade going down 25-0 before the Colts put together a solid 25-6 win, followed by an equally pleasing 19-5 win by the Fourths.

ROUND 10 UPDATED

Beecroft Rugby Club would like to announce that Headen Park is closed for Thursday’s training.

Despite a player drain due to representative duties the in-form Beecroft came out on top over Mosman on Saturday.

Without star five-eighth Ben Gordon and centre Mike Daff, both part of the NSW Subbies side, and further depleted by several injuries, the Crofties still had enough class to win 28-10.

Coach Steve Broughton-Rouse promoted several reserve graders to the top tier rather than postpone the match.

Beecroft secured a first grade Suburban Rugby Kentwell Club win 28-10 over Mosman on Saturday despite the absence of two key players.

The game could have been postponed because Ben Gordon and Mike Daff played for NSW Subbies in their win over Queensland but the Crofties opted to go ahead with the match.
